In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are highlighting a few of the women who are making an impact at Cray Valley. With this series, we hope to connect and inspire women across the chemical industry as they build meaningful careers.
Meet Fatouma HARA, our global project manager! In her role, Fatouma manages and develops product portfolios, ensuring that products fill both market needs and business goals. She enjoys the strategic aspect of her job, which combines technical, commercial and customer requirements.
Initially, Fatouma was drawn to chemistry by her desire to see science translated into real-world impact. Since childhood, she wanted to become an engineer and work toward the industrial development of Chad, her country of origin. Today, she takes pride in the impact of her work, which combines technical expertise with purpose, helping to drive innovation and sustainability.
Fatouma finds the most rewarding moments in seeing a product evolve and succeed in the market — knowing her work contributes to customer satisfaction. While working in a technical environment can present challenges, she approaches them with confidence, viewing each one as an opportunity for growth. “I feel fortunate to be part of a company that values skills, collaboration, and diversity,” she said. “Challenges become opportunities to grow and demonstrate expertise.”
For Fatouma, International Women’s Day is a reminder that progress requires collective effort, which must be gained through diversity, mutual respect and collaboration in the workplace. When asked about her advice for women entering the industry, she said, “To dream, to try and to build their own experience rather than limiting themselves to what others say is possible.” She added, “When women bring their curiosity, courage and authenticity, they create real impact and inspire others.”
