In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are highlighting a few of the women who are making an impact at Cray Valley. This day provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the vital contributions of women in chemistry.
Meet Eva Hrabovská, our global HSE coordinator! Eva manages company policies related to health, safety and the environment, ensuring safety and compliance. She describes her role as “making sure that everything works.” The work is different each day, and Eva enjoys the fresh challenges it poses. “It’s never the same. I’m constantly learning new things and growing,” she said.
In her role, Eva feels most rewarded when she is not “urgently needed” — when her colleagues have the tools and support they need to work safely and efficiently.
Eva’s interest in chemistry began in high school, with a teacher who made chemistry engaging to his students. “He made lab work fun and connected it to topics that interested us as teenagers,” she said. Her early experience inspired her to pursue chemistry as a career.
According to Data USA, women make up about 25 percent of the chemical industry’s workforce. When Eva first entered the industry, she was often the only woman in meetings. However, she gained confidence in her abilities by working hard and making her voice heard.
For Eva, International Women’s Day is an important reminder that we set our own limits. She advises young women entering the industry to never give up, to take pride in their work and to advocate for themselves.
